Registration is Live for New Learning Series on Midwifery-Led Care in Medicaid

The Institute for Medicaid Innovation (IMI), the nonprofit, nonpartisan Medicaid research and policy group, has opened registration for its new learning series, Leveraging Midwifery-Led Care to Address Disparities and Equity in Medicaid.  In partnership with the Center for Health Care Strategies, the series will bring together state Medicaid agencies, Medicaid managed care organizations, and midwifery-led practice settings including freestanding birth centers to increase awareness of the midwifery-led model, support exploration of implementing this model, and leverage key findings and resources from IMI’s landmark report, Improving Maternal Health Access, Coverage, and Outcomes in Medicaid: A Resource for State Medicaid Agencies.

Through 8 monthly, 1-hour online sessions, the series will provide a roadmap for Medicaid stakeholders as they explore implementation of the midwifery-led model of care, focusing on CNMs/CMs and alongside/freestanding birth centers in Medicaid. The sessions will include robust Q&A with national experts and are accompanied by engaging pre-session activities that will enhance participation. Participants must commit to attending all 8 sessions and completing the accompanying pre-session activities to ensure optimal benefits.

Participants may join as part of a state team, organization, or as an individual.  We encourage you to identify Medicaid stakeholders (e.g., hospital leadership, state Medicaid agency staff, Medicaid health plan representatives) in your state to participate with you, as a team approach might lead to a stronger translation of knowledge into action.

More information, including session dates, a preview of covered topics, and a link to register, can be found here.

Interest in participating in the series has been high, and spots are limited. We encourage you and your team to register as soon as possible to ensure a spot in the learning series.

We look forward to learning with you. If you have any questions on the learning series, please reach out to
